Qwoted is one of our favorite tools for getting founders and experts quoted in the press. If you've been curious about it (or signed up and never really used it), this is your step-by-step guide on how to use Qwoted. (Psst: use code VOP at checkout for $50 off!)

What is Qwoted?

Qwoted is a platform that connects journalists with expert sources. Reporters post what they're working on, and you pitch yourself as the expert they need. If they like your answer, you get quoted, often with a link back to your site.

Think of it as the more organized, more targeted version of what HARO used to be. (Here's what happened to HARO)

Is Qwoted free?

There's a free plan, which is a great way to test it out. Paid plans unlock more pitches and features, which is worth it once you're pitching regularly. Ready to upgrade? Sign up through our link and use code VOP at checkout for $50 off.

We personally have a paid plan and use it for all of our clients DAILY, so we think it's worth it!

How to use Qwoted, step by step

  1. Build a real profile. Add your headshot, bio, credentials and the topics you can speak on. Journalists check this before they reply.

  2. Set your topics and alerts. Only follow requests in your lane so you're not drowning in irrelevant queries.

  3. Pitch fast. The best opportunities fill up quickly and sometimes writers will say they already have enoguh pitches, so speed still matters here.

  4. Answer the actual question. Give the journalist a usable, quotable answer right in your pitch, not a sales pitch.

  5. Follow up and track wins. When you land a quote, share it everywhere and link to it from your site.

The new video pitch feature

Qwoted just launched video pitch submissions, and we're watching👀. Instead of just typing your answer, you can record a short video as well.

It helps in two ways. It proves you're a real person (which matters more than ever with AI-written pitches flooding inboxes). And your actual clip could end up embedded in the journalist's article, but don't worry the writers will tell you if that's happening!!

We walk through exactly how it works here:

Our best Qwoted pitching tips

  • Make your opening sentence relevant to the writer. Journalists skim.

  • Keep it short. A few strong sentences beats a wall of text.

  • Be specific. Numbers, examples and real stories get picked.

  • Don't pitch everything. A smaller number of great pitches wins over a ton of mediocre ones.

Every quote you land builds your authority with Google and AI tools too. (Here's how PR helps SEO]
